digital surround sound format 6.1, has two modifications: Discrete 6.1 and Matrix 6.1. In Discrete, all channels, including the optional surround back channel, are recorded separately. In the Matrix variant, the information for the rear center by means of matrix is placed in the left and right rear channels. During playback, this information is decoded and fed to the rear center amplifier.
